About

PMC is a world-leading manufacturer of high-fidelity loudspeakers, renowned for delivering unparalleled sound quality across professional studios, home audio, and cinema environments. Their dedication to precision engineering ensures that customers experience the highest levels of acoustic performance.

Brief

PMC sought to revamp the packaging for their premium loudspeakers, prioritising sustainability while maintaining superior product protection. Their existing packaging relied on plastic-based protective materials, which provided effective cushioning but did not align with PMC’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The company wanted to explore sustainable alternatives that upheld both durability and presentation quality.

Findings

The packaging solution needed to be eco-friendly, durable, and capable of protecting high-value audio equipment during transit. Actionpoint worked closely with PMC, evaluating a range of sustainable materials and developing multiple prototypes. Through ongoing collaboration, including regular feedback sessions, the packaging design was refined to meet all requirements.

Elliott from PMC visited the Actionpoint Packaging Creation Lounge to explore different materials and test various prototypes. This hands-on approach allowed for real-time evaluation of potential solutions, ensuring the packaging met the company’s stringent requirements for protection and aesthetics.

Solutions

Actionpoint designed an innovative, sustainable packaging solution using recyclable corrugated cardboard combined with molded pulp inserts. This approach ensured optimal shock absorption while significantly reducing environmental impact.

To further enhance durability and maintain the luxury appeal of PMC’s products, Actionpoint incorporated custom-molded inserts to securely hold the speakers in place without the need for plastic. The new design also optimised packaging dimensions to reduce material waste and improve logistics efficiency.

As PMC expanded its product range, Actionpoint swiftly adapted the packaging design to accommodate new speaker models, ensuring a seamless and consistent brand experience.
